KOTA BHARU, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here is expected to resume operation in early January next year.
Kelantan Youth, Sports, and NGOs Committee chairman, Zamakhshari Muhamad said that upgrading and improvement works on the stadium are still being carried out by the appointed contractor.
"Currently, the drainage installation work has been completed and is undergoing leak testing before the stadium reopens.
"In addition, the installation of pipes and wiring is also underway and is expected to be completed by the end of November," he told Bernama today.
Regarding the recovery of the grass on the stadium pitch, Zamakhshari said the turf recovery process is expected to be fully completed by the end of December.
"We expect this stadium to once again serve as the venue for Kelantan Darul Naim FC in the Super League and other sporting activities in January 2025," he added.
He noted that the stadium upgrading works began in August and involve a cost of over RM500,000, with the project expected to be completed on schedule.
Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, built in 1965, has a seating capacity of up to 30,000 spectators and has long been a "sacred" ground for the state’s football team.
