KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- WCT Holdings Bhd (WCT), an investment holding company, has launched its latest corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Brightening Lives', aimed at supporting Buku Jalanan Chow Kit (BJCK), in enhancing educational resources and creating a more supportive learning environment for children in the Chow Kit area.

WCT’s chief operating officer (Property Development) Chong Wah Hing said the initiative seeks to equip BJCK students with the resources and environment needed for a brighter future.

“WCT has contributed RM57,000 towards books, educational materials, and the upgrading and repair of essential facilities, including windows, doors, toilets, and electrical systems at the BJCK centre.

“Through our WCTGives - #EducationforAll pillar, we believe that this CSR effort will benefit over 100 children, fostering a safer and more conducive environment for their learning and development,” he said, during the launch of the WCTGives ‘Brightening Lives’ initiative today.

Meanwhile, WCT group managing director, Datuk Lee Tuck Fook, emphasised the company's commitment to addressing educational disparities faced by underprivileged communities. He highlighted that, through collaborations with community leaders like BJCK, WCT is dedicated to building a more inclusive society, which enriches the lives of children.

“Through WCTGives ‘Brightening Lives', we reaffirm our commitment to making impactful contributions to the local community, by nurturing children and providing them with a safe space to grow and play,” he said.

Today, the CSR initiative celebrates the launch of the upgraded centre, along with WCT employee volunteers at BJCK, connecting with over 30 upper primary school children through educational games like 'Pictionary' and 'Colour Coordination'.

WCT also collaborated with Artisan Malaysia, a collective of local artists, to paint a mural, titled ‘BJCK-The Journey’, at the centre, adding vibrancy and colour to the learning space.

BJCK executive director Amin Khalili expressed his gratitude for WCT’s support.

“We are deeply grateful to WCT for supporting BJCK’s vision of empowering underprivileged children with the skills they need, to build sustainable livelihoods and lead fulfilling lives,” he said.

“At BJCK, our mission is to protect the rights of all at-risk children and youths, by providing safe spaces, nurturing environments, and access to positive, holistic opportunities, which allow them to reach their full potential.”

WCTGives encompasses three core pillars: #WeCareTogether, #EducationforAll, and #AGreenerTomorrow, each focusing on programmes which enrich the lives of the community, provide educational support to the underprivileged, and preserve the environment.
