KLUANG, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- A motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle accident at Kilometre 69.5 of the North-South Expressway northbound near Machap here this morning.
Operations Commander, Senior Fire and Rescue Officer I KUP Abd Rahim Razali said motorcyclist Muhammad Adib Adnan, 33, was confirmed dead at the scene by the Health Ministry’s medical team.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a report of an accident involving a 40-tonne Volvo trailer, a Honda Civic car, and a Yamaha MT09 motorcycle at 7.43 am.
"Muhammad Adib's body was handed over to the police for further action, while two men aged 25 and 26 in the Honda Civic sustained injuries.
"One of them was stuck in the driver's seat and had to be extricated using special equipment by the Renggam Fire and Rescue Station’s Rescue Operation Team (PKO), while the other was sent to hospital by the public," he said in a statement today.
Abd Rahim said the 40-year-old trailer driver escaped unhurt.
He said the rescue operation, which involved two Fire and Rescue Tenders, was assisted by the Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Department PKO, which had 12 personnel. Rescue work concluded at 9.11 am.
Meanwhile, in a message via X , the Malaysian Highway Authority said the accident caused a four-kilometre long jam as all northbound lanes were blocked.
