LABUAN, Nov 15 (Bernama) -- Former director of the National Physical Planning Division at PLANMalaysia, Mohd Sukuran Taib, has been appointed the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Labuan Corporation effective Nov 15, 2024.
The appointment is under Subsection 10(1) of the Labuan Corporation Act 2001 (Act 609).
Mohd Sukuran, 52, holds a Master’s Degree in Housing Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi MARA.
In a statement to Bernama today, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr. Zaliha Mustafa said with his 29 years of experience in urban planning, Mohd Sukuran has played a pivotal role in formulating and implementing key national physical development policies.
“His expertise and contributions, particularly in his most recent role, have been instrumental in advancing the nation’s physical planning agenda.
“Therefore, I’m confident of Mohd Sukuran’s leadership, integrity, and dedication. His experience and expertise will ensure the continuity of sustainable development and drive excellence for Labuan, in line with the Labuan Structure Plan 2040, comparable to the development seen in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya,” she emphasised.
Dr Zaliha said Mohd Sukuran’s appointment is expected to usher in a new era of sustainable growth and strategic urban planning for the island territory.
Labuan Corporation also extends its deepest appreciation to outgoing CEO Rithuan Ismail for his leadership and contributions during his tenure.
