DUBAI, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The involvement of Premium Buyers at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) through the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) is seen as the best platform for Malaysian exhibitors to expand their businesses internationally.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said that MIHAS@Dubai 2024, which is held outside Malaysia for the first time, will feature 20 Premium Buyers from around the world.

“Participation by companies in the Premium Buyer category will provide a platform for Malaysian exporters to penetrate markets that may be difficult to access individually.

“Perhaps with programmes like the INSP at MIHAS, this can serve as a 'stepping stone' for these Malaysian companies to make greater leaps (in their businesses),” he said at a press conference in conjunction with MIHAS@Dubai 2024 programme, here, today.

Meanwhile, Reezal Merican noted that the recognition received from international accrediting bodies such as Guinness World Records, the World Trade Promotion Organisation (WTPO), and UFI (the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) has facilitated the organisation of MIHAS@Dubai 2024.

“When MIHAS has its own branding, it's not just exhibitors who want to participate, but buyers also want to come because they know that MIHAS is a credible, prestigious trade exhibition programme that has received international recognition.

“If MIHAS did not have strong branding, it would be difficult (for us) to bring prominent buyers from abroad. If we cannot bring in buyers, how can we increase exports among the exporters?” he said.

MIHAS@Dubai 2024, organised by MATRADE, is scheduled to take place for three days starting Nov 18, 2024, alongside the Middle East Organic & Natural Products Expo, which is supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.

The exhibition will be officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who will also meet with stakeholders in the UAE halal sector as part of efforts to promote and attract more investors to Malaysia.

Scheduled to be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, MIHAS@Dubai 2024 will feature 250 local companies from various sectors, including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and lifestyle.
