KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 (Bernama) – National weightlifting champion Mohamad Aniq Kasdan is set to train in Aceh, Indonesia, for two weeks starting this Friday as preparation for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships in Bahrain next month.
Aniq shared that his primary focus during the training camp will be maintaining his current total lift while also attempting to push beyond his personal best, targeting a 300-kilogramme (kg) lift.
“Right now, I feel there isn’t much to refine in terms of technique. It’s more about maintaining my lifts and pushing them higher. So, I’ll use the training camp in Aceh to the fullest to achieve my target of 300kg,” he told Bernama.
When asked about his competition at the championship, Aniq anticipates facing familiar opponents from his appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He also expressed hopes of achieving flawless lifts and breaking his national record of 298kg, which he set at the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Suva, Fiji, in September.
“My main goal is to execute perfect lifts and, if possible, break the national record. If I end up on the podium, that would be a bonus,” he added.
