21/11/2024 02:13 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- The Two Years of MADANI Government Programme and the 2024 National Convention on Public Service Reform aim to enhance public confidence in the government by promoting a deeper understanding of its agendas and initiatives.

Executive director Ahmad Jefry Aziz @ Adan of Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the three-day programme, from Nov 22 to 24 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will involve all ministries, agencies, and government departments, offering numerous services to the public.

“This event serves as an extensive engagement session, essentially a mega engagement between the government and the people. It will showcase the government’s achievements over the past two years. The public can evaluate these accomplishments and gain insight into the programmes and initiatives implemented.

“More importantly, we aim to gather feedback and suggestions for improving previously executed programmes. The main narrative here is to bolster public confidence in the government,” he said in an interview with IKIMfm earlier today.

Ahmad Jefry further emphasised the importance of regularly assessing public confidence in the government to strengthen existing initiatives and ensure comprehensive benefits are received by the community.

He noted that a survey by market research and consulting firm IPSOS conducted this month revealed that public confidence in the government has risen to 71 percent compared to 52 percent in November last year.

He said various services will be made available to the public throughout the event, which will run from 9 am to 6 pm, including up to 60 percent discounts on summonses by the Royal Malaysia Police and free replacement of motorcycle helmets by the Road Transport Department.

Fully sponsored Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses will also be offered by the Construction Industry Development Board under the Ministry of Works to assist individuals looking to enhance their technical skills.

He said that 40 employers will be participating in the Career Carnival, offering 3,000 job opportunities.

Regarding the 2024 National Convention of Public Service Reform, scheduled for Nov 23 and 24, Ahmad Jefry explained that it will focus on five key areas that the public, particularly civil servants, need to prioritise.

“They are the integration of values and governance linked to Malaysia MADANI and patriotism; human capital development among civil servants; organisational development through the review and update of regulations in need of improvement; comprehensive enhancement of service delivery; and strengthening synergy between the public and private sectors,” he explained.

He highlighted that the programme’s main event will be the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration between the Federal government and state governments, symbolising a commitment to civil service reforms.

This will take place during the opening ceremony of the Two Years of MADANI Government Programme on the morning of Nov 23.

He encouraged visitors to use public transportation to attend the event to avoid traffic congestion.
