Recreational, Water Sports Activities In Kampar Allowed To Resume Tomorrow

IPOH, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Water recreation and sports activities in the Kampar district will be allowed to resume starting tomorrow.

District officer Nazrul Fazami Mohamad, however, said that all operators involved must comply with the Guidelines for the Operation of Water Recreation and Sports Activities set by the Kampar District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD).

"As everyone is aware, all leisure activities and water sports were suspended earlier after the water surge incident in Sungai Jahang, which claimed three lives.

"Following that, several meetings were held with representatives of Kampar JPBD with the operators affected, and as a result, a guideline was created for the operators," he said in a statement today.

On Nov 16, three employees of the Public Works Department (JKR) drowned while participating in a water rafting activity at Sungai Jahang near Gopeng.
