KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Popular Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan is set to return to perform in Malaysia at the end of the year. Known for his timeless hits, the legendary vocalist last performed in Malaysia 12 years ago.
During a recent Zoom interview with Bernama from Mumbai, India, Udit emphasised the importance of dedication and resilience in achieving success in the music industry.
“My advice to aspiring Malaysian singers is to embrace hard work and patience, and keep their ambitions alive,” he said.
The veteran singer, who has recorded over 25,000 songs in nearly 40 languages during his illustrious career spanning more than four decades, will perform at Megastar Arena, Kuala Lumpur, on Dec 28.
The concert, organised by VVST Digital Creation and scheduled to begin at 7.30 pm, promises to take music enthusiasts on a nostalgic journey through Bollywood’s golden era, featuring hits from the 1990s to the present day.
Acknowledging Malaysia's growing appreciation for music and its talented singers, Udit encouraged them to stay dedicated and embrace challenges as part of their artistic journey.

Recalling his previous visit to Malaysia, Udit said he has fond memories of the warm reception he received from diverse communities.
"Malaysians are very musical. They love Bollywood music, whether they are romantic melodies or high-energy tracks," he said.
Udit also acknowledged Malaysia’s deep admiration for Bollywood megastar Datuk Shah Rukh Khan and hinted at including hit songs from Khan’s films, such as ‘Tum Paas Aaye’ from the film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, in his upcoming concert, as well as the A.R. Rahman composition ‘Kya Kare Kya Na Kare’ from ‘Rangeela’, which remains a fan favourite.
Udit also reminisced about his breakthrough in the Indian music industry with the iconic song ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ from the movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ and his Tamil debut in the film ‘Kadhalan’.
“My dream was always to become a singer,” he shared. “But my father wanted me to become a doctor or an engineer. My son Aditya Narayan was born in the same year when ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ became popular. That song holds a very special place in my heart.”
Promising a vibrant and engaging show for his Malaysian fans, he said he will be accompanied by a 20-member team, including his wife and fellow performers.
When asked if there are any particular genres he wishes to experiment with, he remarked, “Music is a creative journey that never ends.”
