SHAH ALAM, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Volvo Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Volvo Trucks) has unveiled its updated heavy-duty truck range, designed to boost fuel efficiency and cut carbon emissions.

Volvo Trucks Southeast Asia and Japan managing director Anna Engblom said the launch reflects the company’s commitment to improving productivity and safety.

"Safety, quality, and environmental care are our core values at Volvo Trucks. We are committed to providing solutions that improve safety across the entire transport industry for both drivers and operators," she said in a statement issued in conjunction with today’s launch of the truck range.

The launch ceremony was also attended by the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad and the Swedish Ambassador to Malaysia, Niklas Wiberg.

The new Volvo FH, FM, and FMX models feature aerodynamic upgrades, improved drive systems, a more ergonomic driver’s cabin, and advanced safety measures.

Engblom noted the aerodynamic globetrotter cabin improves fuel consumption by up to nine per cent.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

Meanwhile, its intelligent cruise control with ‘I-See’ technology optimises fuel efficiency, while Volvo Dynamic steering stabilises vehicles in varying conditions.

A new camera monitoring system, available from mid-2025, will reduce blind spots with night-vision infrared capabilities, according to the statement.

Volvo recently earned Euro NCAP’s first-ever five-star safety rating for heavy-duty trucks, recognising its FH and FM models.

The updated range meets Euro 5 emission standards, helping businesses align with Malaysia’s sustainability goals by reducing emissions and promoting greener transport practices.
