KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has postponed his planned programme at Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu this weekend to prioritise the welfare of communities affected by the ongoing floods.

Anwar said the decision was made after a discussion with Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar at Parliament today.

“Given the worsening flood situation in Terengganu, I have decided to postpone the programme.

“At this moment, the well-being of those affected by the disaster is our top priority and must be managed properly,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar also expressed his prayers for strength for the flood victims as they face the crisis.

As of 4 pm today, 14,111 individuals from 4,113 families have been evacuated in seven districts in Terengganu, including Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Dungun, Marang and Kuala Nerus.

Other states affected by the floods are Kelantan, Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Johor.
