UNIRAZAK Celebrates 1,119 Graduates At 23rd Convocation, Highlighting Global Growth And Excellence

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- A total of 1,119 graduates from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK) were conferred their degrees at the university’s 23rd convocation ceremony at Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL) yesterday.

The university said the convocation celebrated the academic achievements of graduates from a wide range of countries including Brunei, Indonesia, China, Bahrain, India, Somalia, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Senegal, Nigeria, Yemen and Zimbabwe, highlighted UNIRAZAK's growing international footprint and its dedication in preparing students for a globalised world.

“This year, UNIRAZAK takes particular pride in celebrating 85 graduates from China, a testament to the enduring partnership between Malaysia and China, first established in 1974 through the visionary diplomacy of Tun Abdul Razak.

“This historic relationship, championed by Malaysia’s second prime minister, continues to strengthen ties and foster global collaboration, embodying the spirit of the convocation’s theme, “Going Global”,” the university said in a statement today.

UNIRAZAK added that the theme reflects its aspiration to become a world-class university dedicated to delivering an inclusive and exceptional learning experience, grounded in high-quality education powered by technology and strategic collaborations, to prepare its graduates for global impact.

UNIRAZAK Pro-Chancellor Datuk Mohamed Nizam Tun Abdul Razak said the theme "Going Global" encouraged graduates to dream big, seize opportunities beyond borders, and make meaningful contributions that leave a lasting impact on the world.

“True success lies not only in personal achievements but also in making meaningful contributions and leaving a lasting impact on communities and the world,” he said in the same statement.

Meanwhile, vice chancellor Prof Datin Paduka Dr Samsinar Md Sidin highlighted the university's remarkable growth.

“Seven years ago, we were a university with just over 700 students, primarily local. Today, we proudly stand with close to 5,000 students representing 27 different countries. 

“This remarkable transformation speaks volumes about the ambition, dedication and resilience that define UNIRAZAK,” she said. 

She also highlighted key partners in their mission of “Going Global,” including the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), IEG Campus, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and their esteemed collaborators at Guangzhou Construction City College (GZCCC).

At the convocation, UNIRAZAK announced Mohd Shazwan Abdullah as the recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award, recognising his leadership as President of the Student Representative Council (2023–2024) and his dedication to community and cultural initiatives as an ambassador for the Onn Jaafar Institute.
