KOTA TINGGI, Dec 15 (Bernama) -- Kampung Baru Pasak received a benefit amounting to RM 2.55 million through the Ministry of Defence’s (MINDEF) MADANI Village Adoption programme.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the allocation comprised RM2.5 million from the Finance Ministry, with an additional RM50,000 from MINDEF.
"This effort is a manifestation of the MADANI Government which has allocated a national budget of RM100 million during Budget 2024, with each adopted village receiving a maximum allocation of RM2.5 million.
"The additional RM50,000 from MINDEF to Kampung Baharu Pasak involves a mushroom planting project, and this allocation is to ensure the coverage of basic facilities such as water, electricity, roads, streetlights, community facilities, and Internet access can be improved in the rural area," he said in a statement today.
Mohamed Khaled, who is also the Kota Tinggi member of parliament, said the selection of Kampung Baru Pasak as a MINDEF-MADANI Adopted Village was based on basic facilities which are still below 50 per cent.
According to him, the entire project has been carried out by local contractors, with priority given to Bumiputera contractors, to support the local economy.
Among the agencies involved in the implementation of this project are MINDEF, the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), MAF Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV), Kota Tinggi District Office (PDKT) and Kota Tinggi Public Works Department (JKR).
"A total of 152 families, comprising approximately 600 household members in Kampung Baru Pasak, benefitted from this MINDEF-MADANI Village Adoption programme," he added.
