FISHERMAN FEARED DROWNED AFTER FALLING OVERBOARD FISHING BOAT

IPOH, Dec 16 (Bernama) – A fisherman has been reported missing and is feared to have drowned after he fell overboard a fishing boat while fixing it at a fish platform in Hutan Melintang, Bagan Datuk this afternoon.

The Bagan Datuk Civil Defence Force (CDF) said that they received a call at 5.06 pm from the Bagan Datuk district police headquarters about a report of a man, 30, who went missing at the Hutan Melintang fish platform.

“The man, known as Ng Kawai fell overboard when he tried to cross over to another boat,” the CDF said in a statement today, adding that it mobilised a team from its Bagan Datuk district operations control centre to the location of the incident to conduct a search.

“The CDF control post has been opened and personnel are conducting a search operation at the incident site, but it has been suspended and will resume tomorrow,” the department said.
