KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 18 (Bernama) --  Maxis along with the Kuching Community Social Support Centre (CSSC) and Kuching Food Aid brought festive cheer to over 100 of those in need, including senior citizens and the homeless at Kuching CSSC, Sarawak, today.

Maxis’ Head of Regional Sales Management - Sarawak, T. Bhaarathyraja, who led the company’s festive delegation, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to spread some festive cheer in Kuching this Christmas season.

"We are always committed to giving back to the community, and we hope we were able to create a joyful Christmas celebration," he said in a statement today.

Themed “Season of Hope: Sharing Joy, Building Connections”, the country's leading integrated telco organised an array of activities such as Christmas carolling, cookie decoration, bingo and festive lunch to spread joy and goodwill among those in need.

Significant to Maxis' festive CSR tradition, a Christmas basket with ready-to-cook items and Hotlink SIM packs as well as top-ups were given to all the beneficiaries at the event.

The statement added that Maxis had also contributed mattresses and dry food aid to Kuching CSSC in support of their mission for the centre’s homeless transit facility.

Meanwhile, Kuching CSSC manager Emerlyn Rawlin said that the centre was looking forward to future collaborations and opportunities with Maxis to create more impactful moments together.

"On behalf of CSSC, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Maxis and their team for hosting such a meaningful and joyous Christmas celebration, as well as for their generous contributions," she said.

Kuching Food Aid founder Datin Shen-Tel Lee expressed delight at the success of the event organised for the underprivileged community who rarely got such opportunities.

"The event was brimming with activities for the patrons and has truly become the talk of the town. A big thank you to Maxis for hosting such a generous and memorable celebration," she added.

Kuching CSSC serves vulnerable groups such as the homeless, victims of domestic abuse or addiction and others facing social issues, while Kuching Food Aid provides essential food aid to underprivileged communities in Sarawak.

Kuching CSSC has been operating since 2022, partnering with the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWKM) and Elica Sdn Bhd.
