SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 (Bernama) -- The initiative by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to introduce four entrepreneurship programmes has yielded positive results, generating nearly RM331 million in sales.

The initiative, involving 194 entrepreneurs and featuring Program Bina Bangun Usahawan (BizUp), Program Usahawan Siswazah (GROW), Program Usahawan Siswazah Lanjutan (GROW PLUS), and the Market Acceleration Programme for Export and Retail Products (MEXPRO), ran from March last year to November this year, with durations ranging from eight to 15 months.

PKNS deputy chief executive officer (Development) Md Kamarzan Md Rais said the corporation, through its Entrepreneur Development Division as the implementing body, had been dedicated to supporting government policies, especially those aimed at strengthening entrepreneurship.

“Through the programmes, PKNS aims to produce entrepreneurs who are competitive, able to plan and implement innovative marketing and sales strategies, while enhancing their business management skills.

“Participants will receive the necessary guidance and support through a structured and comprehensive development programme to help them succeed,” he said in his speech at the closing ceremony of the programmes here today.

According to Md Kamarzan, BizUp, focusing on entrepreneurs aged 21 to 45 and with 30 participants, achieved total sales of over RM3.224 million, while GROW, designed for young graduate entrepreneurs aged 21 to 35, recorded sales of RM10.162 million, both within an eight-month period.

He said that, to date, 483 participants have taken part in the programmes, with the participating companies collectively generating RM65.996 million in sales revenue from 2006 to the present.

Md Kamarzan said that GROW PLUS and MEXPRO were primarily focused on elevating and enhancing the quality of small and medium industries, making them more competitive and capable of entering the international market.

He stated that the GROW PLUS programme achieved total sales of RM47.808 million, while MEXPRO recorded RM270 million in total sales throughout the 15 months of its implementation since March 2023.

Md Kamarzan said that PKNS would remain committed to providing a platform to develop more successful entrepreneurs who would, in turn, contribute to the economic progress of the state and the country as a whole.

“With a clear objective and policy, the corporation will continue with initiatives like this that will have a positive and lasting impact to continue to guide potential individuals with strong entrepreneurial knowledge,” he said.
