20/12/2024 10:45 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 (Bernama) -- Tickets for the genKRU concert by legendary trio KRU, scheduled to be held at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, on May 3, have sold out within an hour of going on sale online starting at 11 am today.

This phenomenon proves the enduring popularity of the sibling trio comprising Datuk Norman Abdul Halim, Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim, and Edry Abdul Halim, who continue to dominate the hearts of fans across generations.

The comeback of the singers of popular hits like Fanatik and Awas is eagerly anticipated by loyal fans who were prepared to compete online for tickets to the 1990s-themed concert.

One user on platform X, @wallawaniey, expressed joy after successfully securing tickets following fierce competition with thousands of other fans.

“Finally got KRU concert tickets ... first time seeing KRU perform live, I can't wait. Grew up with KRU songs since school. See you in 2025 to all genKRU," she wrote.

User @small_elf1 was also among the lucky ones who managed to secure tickets and will be able to watch the legendary music group's performance.

"Finally, after an hour and a half, I got the KRU tickets. Don’t give up, yeayy, next year I’ll meet KRU," they said.

However, many others were left disappointed after "losing the battle" for tickets, despite making early preparations to fulfil their dream of watching their idols perform live.

“Getting KRU tickets feels like a battle for EXO tickets... I give up. I've been trying all this time but still can’t get any," lamented @kim_suhooo.

Adila Wahab, meanwhile, hoped the organisers would consider offering a second edition of the concert so more fans could have the chance to watch the long-awaited performance.

"I was ready by 10.45 am, but it took an hour to access the ticket2u website, and by the time I got in, the tickets were sold out, even the most expensive ones," she shared.

Similarly, X user @syeebae, who tried her best to secure a seat, expressed her disappointment.

"Couldn't get KRU tickets, they're always sold out. I'll just wait patiently. Please announce a second-day concert."

In response, the concert organiser Iman Tang from  Icon Entertainment, announced that due to overwhelming demand, they would soon release details about tickets for a second concert day.

He added that 10,000 ticket buyers were prepared to compete for tickets starting as early as 8.30 am, reflecting a positive response and great appreciation for local artistes.

“We opened ticket sales at 11 am today, and they were sold out within an hour. We are deeply moved by this extraordinary response. This phenomenon was anticipated given KRU's popularity and status as one of our nation's icons," he said in a statement today.
