LAHAD DATU, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Efforts to repair the severely damaged Jalan Kilang here have been stalled due to objections from a third party, according to the Sabah Public Works Department (JKR).
It said the concessionaire tasked with maintaining the road has been unable to proceed with repairs as the third party claimed the land in question is privately owned and not part of a designated road reserve.
“The road has been listed for repairs this year and the funding has already been approved. However, works cannot commence due to objections from the third party,” the statement read.
The department highlighted that the road’s condition has deteriorated further, with large potholes making it difficult for smaller vehicles to pass through.
“The matter has been referred to the Sabah Land and Surveys Department and the JKR is awaiting confirmation (of the land’s status) before commencing repair work,” it said.
Yesterday, a video of the damaged road went viral on social media, sparking various reactions from netizens.
