KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Export-Import Bank of Malaysia Bhd (Exim Bank) has been recognised as the “Lender of the Year” for its sustainability-focused finance and investment insights at the recent Impact Awards 2024.

Organised by Environmental Finance, a leading global platform for sustainability-focused finance and investment insights, the Impact Awards honour organisations and initiatives demonstrating exceptional leadership in driving positive environmental and social change through innovative financing solutions.

In a statement today, Exim Bank said the award recognised its ongoing transformative contributions to advancing sustainable financing and fostering responsible trade, as well as its unwavering commitment towards fortifying Malaysian exporters’ resilience in the face of climate change.

“By prioritising environmentally and socially impactful projects, Exim Bank has consistently delivered innovative solutions aligned with Malaysia’s developmental goals and global sustainability standards,” it said.

Exim Bank acting president and chief executive officer Nurbayu Kasim Chang said the recognition by Environmental Finance was a testament to the bank’s leadership in sustainable financing and our commitment to empowering Malaysian exporters.

“At Exim Bank, we view sustainability not just as a goal but as an integral part of our mission to drive economic growth responsibly. Beyond providing financing, we offer comprehensive support that includes advisory services and capacity-building to equip businesses for long-term success,” she said.

Exim Bank approved approximately RM410 million of green financing in 2024.

Among the bank’s key initiatives is the Malaysia Global Connect Programme, a platform that supports small- and medium-sized enterprises through capacity building and advisory services focused on export-related and sustainability challenges.

“The Exim Green Global Initiative was also launched to reflect a strong commitment to mobilise up to RM1.5 billion in sustainable financing by 2027 and is aimed at financing projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable agriculture, ensuring meaningful contributions to global sustainability efforts,” the bank added.
