NEW DELHI, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- Bangladesh is seeking ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's extradition from India.

"We sent a note verbale to the Indian government saying that the Bangladesh government wants her back here for judicial process," the interim government's foreign adviser Touhid Hossain told reporters at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka on Monday, according to state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.

Hasina fled to India on August 5 after weeks of mass protests against her rule.

The former prime minister and many of her Awami League party leaders face legal cases in connection with alleged enforced disappearances and killings during the protests.

Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal in October issued an arrest warrant for her.
