SUNGAI PETANI, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul expressed hope that Malaysia will be the best host in organising several key meetings related to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), next year.
As the AIPA president, he shared that he has carefully planned and prepared to manage all related events, including five meetings, with the AIPA General Assembly scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, from Sept 1 to 6.
“Other meetings will be held in various states, including Selangor, Pahang, and, Insya-Allah, Sarawak, ensuring that our guests are distributed across the states,” he said.
“This will allow them not only to experience the beauty and vibrancy of Kuala Lumpur, but also to explore what is happening in other parts of the country,” he added.
He made these remarks after presenting aid contributions to flood victims, at Masjid Safuan Kariah Pekan Jeniang, Gurun, today.
Johari also expressed confidence that the event would be well-received by ASEAN countries, citing the positive feedback he has received so far.
He also announced that he would begin a tour of all ASEAN countries, starting on Jan 13, during which he would meet with the parliaments of the respective nations.
According to him, the purpose of this tour is to gather the necessary input to ensure that Malaysia can be the best host for AIPA in 2025.
Johari accepted the task of the 46th AIPA president for 2025, in October, from Laos. Malaysia last hosted as AIPA president in 2015.
