Sultan Nazrin Receives RM3.24 Mln In Business Zakat Contributions

IPOH, Dec 24 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah today received RM3.24 million in business zakat (tithe) from eight corporate entities on behalf of the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk) at Istana Perak, Changkat Persekutuan in Kuala Lumpur.

MAIPk chief executive officer (CEO) Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh, in a statement, said the presentation of the zakat was led by Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad through its president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah, with a contribution of RM355,528.73.

Metropolitan Utilities Corporation Sdn Bhd, represented by its senior operations manager Mohd Khairiri Mohamed Zubir, presented zakat worth RM215,840, while Perbadanan Ekonomi Islam Perak Sdn Bhd CEO Amirul Hakim Abdullah presented RM1.09 million.

Syamsul Hazeman said the National Higher Education Fund Corporation, represented by its CEO Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, contributed RM100,000.

“UAC Berhad, represented by its general manager of Government, Regulatory Affairs & Stakeholder Management Mohd Najib Mohd Seth, contributed RM 576,015.33, while Koperasi Perladangan Kawasan Bagan Datoh Perak Berhad, through its chairman Salleh Hudin Kamarudin, handed over RM582,424.23.

“The Seberang Perak Area Farmers’ Organisation, represented by its Board chairman Mohd Zamnuri Abidin, contributed RM186,942.05,” he said.

The zakat handover ceremony concluded with Sri Manjung Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd, represented by its general manager Muhammad Tareq Mamat, contributing RM124,000.

The ceremony was also witnessed by Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja Gen Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin, Orang Kaya Besar Maharaja Diraja Datuk Dr Syed Jaafar Syed Aznan and Orang Kaya Kaya Maharaja Lela Tanjana Putra Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohamed Hashim.
