KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) are intensifying efforts to track individuals who possess, store and distribute pornographic and child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said operations under ‘Op Pedo’ will continue to be conducted periodically to curb such activities.
“We are collaborating with MCMC to identify and gather related information. PDRM is also investigating whether these activities involve syndicates or are carried out individually.
“Other individuals involved in these activities are also being tracked. Members of the public with information on such activities are encouraged to report to PDRM to assist investigations,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Yesterday, Razarudin, in a statement, revealed that a senior citizen was among 13 men arrested on suspicion of committing online sexual offences involving CSAM during Op Pedo on Monday.
He said the 74-year-old suspect and 12 others were detained in a joint operation with MCMC across six states: Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Johor and Terengganu.
Items seized during the operation included 40,000 CSAM and adult pornographic materials, as well as seven computers, 11 mobile phones, nine routers, seven modems, a laptop, a digital video disc and a hard drive.
