SINTOK, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) to strengthen strategic collaboration in the field of education.
The MoU was signed by ANGKASA president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah and UUM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Foad Sakdan, here today.
Abdul Fattah said that this collaboration is a continuation of a previous MoU which ended on Sept 21, 2023 and had benefited ANGKASA, particularly in enhancing management capabilities and competencies through the Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme.
"During the previous collaboration, 47 ANGKASA staff were fully sponsored by ANGKASA to pursue the MBA programme at UUM. Alhamdulillah, all of them successfully completed their studies excellently, which is a very proud achievement.
"Through efforts led by ANGKASA’s Centre of Excellence and UUM's Centre for Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development Institute (CEDI), we are continuing this strategic collaboration, which will undoubtedly have a significant impact on human capital development within the national cooperative movement."
"UUM is a prestigious institution of higher learning that provides a platform to enhance knowledge and skills in the fields of cooperative management, business, and finance. ANGKASA can leverage the academic expertise from UUM to improve the management efficiency of the cooperatives under our umbrella," he said.
Abdul Fattah made these remarks during his speech at the MoU signing ceremony at EDC-UUM, here.
In addition, he said, ANGKASA would expand the scope of its strategic collaboration to include other areas such as the Cooperative Leadership Programme, mushroom farming projects, and research collaboration on areas of mutual interest.
He added that ANGKASA, which oversees more than 16,000 cooperatives with a membership of 7.2 million nationwide, must prepare its leadership and workforce with high competencies to drive the success of cooperatives.
Meanwhile, Mohd Foad said UUM welcomed the collaboration as part of efforts to further strengthen knowledge related to marketing, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and research.
"Several ANGKASA training programmes have been successfully conducted involving executive officers in management and administration with UUM’s expertise. Training programmes like these are capable of enhancing the skillsets of ANGKASA staff in their respective fields to a higher level.
"This effort is hoped to become a model for cooperative transformation, driving the nation’s socio-economic progress in a more sustainable and inclusive manner," he said.
