JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- Cooperation from media practitioners and water industry players are crucial for the sustainability of water supply in the future, Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Anuar Abdul Ghani said.
As Johor’s water operator, Ranhill SAJ will continue to nurture close ties with media practitioners to boost public awareness about limited water resources, he added.
"Media coverage on the implementation of water infrastructure projects, water usage policies and initiatives of water sources’ conservation and sustainability serve as the voice to the community.
"The media also is responsible in providing understanding to the public on the importance of water sources and will boost public awareness on responsible use of water,” he said in a statement today.
Efficient and sustainable water resource management is vital in ensuring the people’s prosperity and the country’s economic development, from drinking water supply to water usage in the industrial sector.
"Print, electronic and online media help educate and provide accurate information to the public on water-related issues as well as channel feedback for the improvement of water supply,” he said.
Anuar had earlier presented financial aid to Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) TV programme division director Abdull Hadi Mohd Yusoff here yesterday.
Abdull Hadi, 58, who is suffering from leukemia, had also served as Broadcasting Director for Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak before being assigned to Angkasapuri, Kuala Lumpur.
