GEORGE TOWN, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Marine police detained a local man suspected of storing and selling firecracker without permit in a house in Kampung Koh, near Setiawan, Perak.
Marine Police Region 1 commander, ACP Rusley Chi Ari said the 38-year-old suspect was apprehended by a Marine Intelligence Unit (URM) in Kg Acheh, Perak while conducting a Chinese New Year Season Op between 11 pm and 2 am this morning.
He said the raid yielded 29 boxes containing 655 packets of various types of firecrackers valued at RM25,150 in a room.
“From questioning, it was found the suspect had no valid permit to store and sell firecrackers,” he said in a statement.
However, a check, showed the man has no past criminal record, he added.
