SINGAPORE, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- United States (US) Vice President Kamala Harris will make a working visit to Singapore on Jan 15 as part of a three-country tour from January 13 to 17, which also includes stops in Bahrain and Germany.
The trip is likely to be her last as Vice President before she leaves office on Jan 20.
A spokesperson for Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said the visit reflects the longstanding, substantive, and multifaceted partnership between the two countries.
During her visit, Harris will meet with Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong and attend a lunch hosted by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana.
“She will also visit Changi Naval Base where she will be meeting US service personnel,” the spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.
Harris will be accompanied by the Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and senior US officials.
In Bahrain, on Jan 16, she will meet with leaders in the capital, Manama, and visit Naval Support Activity–Bahrain, the headquarters of US Naval Forces Central Command and the US 5th Fleet, according to a statement from Press Secretary Ernesto Apreza.
She will visit the US Air Force 52nd Fighter Wing at Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany on Jan 17.
“Throughout her trip, the Vice President will discuss the accomplishments of the Biden-Harris Administration over the past four years in each region, the US partnership with the respective nations, the contributions of US military forces to regional and global security, and the enduring national security interests of the United States,” the statement said.
