MELAKA, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- The state government will consider holding a large-scale sports event involving Melaka uniformed bodies on an annual basis, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said the inaugural Dua Jiwa Satu Hati Sports Championship and the Inter-Uniformed Bodies Games could foster ties among personnel of uniformed bodies in the state while also reflecting the government and community's respect for their contributions.

"However, the venue for the event will no longer be at Kem Terendak but will be hosted by other uniformed bodies, depending on the facilities available and the willingness of the respective uniformed body to be the organiser," he told reporters after the Dua Jiwa Satu Hati Sports Championship and the Uniformed Bodies Games, Chief Minister of Melaka's Cup 2025, at Kem Terendak, Sungai Udang, here today.

Also present were the 3rd Infantry Division commander, Major General Datuk Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin, and the 10th Parachute Brigade commander, Major General Datuk Khairul Azmizal Ahmad Natal.

He expressed confidence that the two sporting events, with over 6,000 contestants, would create a strong network in fostering strategic cooperation among uniformed bodies, government agencies, and the community.

The Dua Jiwa Satu Hati Sports programme will kick off on Jan 18 to 31, involving 3,171 contestants across six sports events, including football, sepak takraw, and badminton, and the Uniformed Bodies Games will run from Feb 1 to 14 with 3,035 participants from 11 uniformed bodies, including the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Immigration Department, and Prisons Department.

"The highlight of the events will take place on Feb 15 and 16 at Tanjung Bidara Beach, where the public will have the opportunity to participate in various sports activities, including beach volleyball and tug of war," he added.
