Ten-year Wait Ends As Ampar Tenang PPR Homes Handed Over To Owners

SEPANG, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- The long-awaited handover of the Ampar Tenang People's Housing Project (PPR) has brought relief to 404 low-cost homeowners, ending a decade-long wait for permanent housing.

The project, transferred from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's (KPKT) housing planning division to the National Housing Department, marks a significant milestone for residents who had been living in temporary accommodations in Taman Permata, Dengkil.

Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu, shared the good news during her visit to the site today, describing the handover as a result of collaborative efforts and determination by the Malaysian Madani government.

“Today, we officially hand over the Ampar Tenang PPR project, developed on land previously owned by Sime Darby Sdn Bhd and inhabited by workers from Ladang Perang Besar, Medingly, Galloway, and Sedgely estates,” she said.

Aiman Athirah, who is also the Sepang Member of Parliament, assured that the process of handing over keys to the homeowners would be completed by the end of the year.

“The National Housing Department will oversee the key handover process, and we will keep the homeowners informed. We aim to ensure all residents can move into their new homes this year,” she added.

The project comprises single-storey terrace houses with a built-up area of 750 square feet, including four units designed for persons with disabilities (OKU). Construction began on Aug 1, 2017, and the development received its Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) on Dec 31, 2024.

Funded through an RM88 million allocation from the PPR Trust Fund, the housing project is equipped with essential facilities, including a community hall, playground, and open spaces.

“Our policy ensures that one per cent of the housing quota is allocated for persons with disabilities. Buyers will only need to pay RM20,000 for these homes, with the remaining RM50,000 subsidised by the government,” Aiman Athirah said.

The Ampar Tenang PPR project represents a collaborative effort between the Federal government and the Selangor government, facilitated through the acquisition of 30 acres of land from Sime Darby Sdn Bhd, valued at RM15 million.
