MOSCOW, Jan 13 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Canada will send 60 firefighters at the request of the United States to help extinguish the fires in California, Canadian Minister of Emergency Preparedness, Harjit Sajjan, said, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
According to the minister, "American friends" have asked for help in extinguishing forest fires.
"Sixty firefighters from Alberta and B.C. will be deployed as soon as tomorrow and we’re working to identify and prepare more resources to send over the days ahead. Neighbours helping neighbours," Sajjan said on X.
Multiple wildfires have broken out in California since Tuesday, prompting tens of thousands to evacuate and leaving at least 24 people killed. One person has been detained by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of arson that started the Kenneth Fire, one of the devastating wildfires raging in California, NewsNation reported on Friday, citing law enforcement officials.
