MyAQSA Foundation To Submit Evidence Of Israeli War Crimes To ICC

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysian non-governmental organisation, MyAQSA Foundation, will soon submit evidence of atrocity crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Palestine to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

MyAQSA Foundation chairman and founder, Suwardi Yaacob, said the evidence was collected in collaboration with researchers from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) since the attack started on Oct 7, 2023.

He said this during a media conference on the submission of the evidence of Israeli war crimes to the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICC at the IIUM near here on Wednesday.

Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia, Walid Abu Ali, who was also present at the event, commended MyAQSA’s initiative, adding that it was the first of its kind among countries in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He said the evidence collected would be an addition to efforts made by the Palestinian community to prove to the international institutions, prosecutor general of International Court of Justice and the ICC, that Palestinians are victims of genocide.

“Palestine is grateful for the initiative to collect all evidence through ground visits to Gaza and different areas. Such effort is risky and hard to achieve,” he said during the media conference. 

Meanwhile, IIUM,  in a statement, said it has supported MyAQSA Foundation’s mission through a  research grant to five academicians from the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyah (Faculty) of Laws, IIUM, to conduct research and to collect and analyse material and significant information, including evidence concerning genocide, war crimes against humanity, and crimes of aggression in Palestine. 

The final list in the report identifies 110 individual as the perpetrators of the crimes, the statement added. 

According to the statement, the researchers are Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Kamal, Prof Farid Sufian Shuaib, Prof Abdul Ghafur Hamid, Prof Mohammad Naqib Eishan Jan, and Asst Prof Dr Mohammed R.M. Elshobake. They are assisted by three undergraduate students from the faculty. 

During the event, Mohd Hisham handed over the collected evidence report to Suwardi to be submitted to the ICC.
