SEOUL, Jan 23 (Bernama-Yonhap) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae Uul held his first phone call with new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday, with both agreeing to maintain close cooperation on North Korea’s nuclear issues.
According to Yonhap news agency, the conversation followed US President Donald Trump’s swearing-in on Monday (US time).
The two diplomats discussed bilateral relations, North Korea’s nuclear programme and trilateral cooperation with Japan, the South Korean Foreign Ministry said.
At Rubio’s invitation, the ministers agreed to coordinate details for an in-person meeting in Washington at the earliest possible date, the ministry added.
