MINSK, Jan 26 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) - The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Observer Mission revealed no violations during the five days of early voting for the presidential election in Belarus, SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
The presidential election is being held in Belarus on Sunday. Preliminary voting was held from January 21 to 25.
“The members of our mission started their work back in the early voting period. We can't make any official statement yet, we will form it after the voting process is over. But so far we have not seen any violations,” Yermekbayev said.
The SCO delegation includes 17 observers from seven countries, whose main goal, Yermekbayev added, is to ensure the voting process complies with the country's own legislation and its international obligations.
On Saturday, Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) chief Ella Pamfilova told RIA Novosti, that the CEC delegation, which also monitors the presidential election in Belarus, had not revealed any violations
The turnout in early voting amounted to 41.81 per cent, the Belarusian Central Election Commission said on Saturday.
