SEKINCHAN, Feb 4 (Bernama) – The government has allocated RM10 million for the construction of a pedestrian and motorcycle overhead bridge in front of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Leman here.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the construction of the overhead bridge is expected to be completed by early 2027.

“The overhead bridge is necessary due to the high traffic volume and the presence of heavy vehicles. I was informed that a fatal accident occurred near this location just yesterday.

“...there is a school, a mosque, and residential areas nearby. It will enhance safety, provide convenience, and improve traffic flow along this route,” he told reporters after inspecting the construction site of the pedestrian and motorcycle overhead bridge at Federal Route (FT) 05 Sungai Besar-Sabak Bernam here today.

Nanta said the tender process is set to open at the end of this year after land surveying and soil investigation works are completed.

Meanwhile, Nanta announced that several other projects have been approved by the government for this year, including road maintenance works on FT05 in Sabak Bernam, costing RM3 million.

He said the project includes critical road repairs, drainage system improvements worth RM2.26 million, and the installation of solar-powered lights and traffic signal repairs, amounting to RM750,000.

“The total allocation for Sabak Bernam and surrounding areas is RM4.61 million, while an additional project in Kuala Selangor has also been approved with a special allocation of RM1.6 million,” he added.
