MOSCOW, Feb 8 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the government to consider introducing mandatory genomic profiling of military personnel and civilians involved in the special military operation, a document published on Saturday read, according to Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
"The Government of the Russian Federation... shall consider the introduction of mandatory state-led genomic registration of military service people and civilians deployed to perform activities required by the special military operation or counterterrorism operations," the document read.
The government, in collaboration with the ministries of defence, internal affairs, finance, and health, along with the Federal Security Service, the state fund supporting participants in the special military operation, and a dedicated non-profit organisation, will propose law amendments to parliament, if necessary, by July 1, 2025.
Those in charge of the task are Defence Minister Andrei Belousov, Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, Deputy Minister of Defence Anna Tsivilyova and Head of the Autonomous Nonprofit Organisation "Committee of Families of Warriors of the Fatherland" Yulia Belekhova.
