KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Tourism Agency Association (MATA) has introduced Interactive Virtual Tourism (IVT), a pioneering innovative platform that transforms how travel agents and customers interact in real time.
In a statement today, MATA announced that IVT is a secure virtual consultation platform designed to enhance trust, strengthen customer engagement, and eliminate fraud in travel transactions.
"IVT enables direct face-to-face interaction between tourists and verified travel professionals, ensuring a safe and reliable booking experience.
"With the rising cases of travel fraud, IVT provides a secure solution by allowing users to verify agents before making any commitments," the statement said.
The platform is also expected to reshape Malaysia’s tourism landscape by offering a smoother and safer way for travellers to plan their vacations while helping travel agencies build stronger customer relationships.
MATA president Datuk Dr Mohd Khalid Harun, in the same statement, said that IVT is not just a platform but a solution to one of the biggest challenges in the tourism industry—trust.
"By enabling direct communication between tourists and agents, we are making travel bookings safer and more transparent than ever before," he said.
According to MATA, travel agencies, tour operators, and tourism authorities can leverage the platform to attract more tourists and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a leading global travel destination.
"Businesses and professionals in the tourism industry are invited to join this new era of tourism," he said.
