IPOH, Feb 14 (Bernama) -- A fisherman who is believed to have fallen overboard while out at sea in the waters of Kuala Sangga, near Taiping, yesterday was found drowned today.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Sabarozi Nor Ahmad said fellow fishermen found the body of Aziz Bakar, 50.
In a statement today, he said Aziz's friends realised he had gone missing after discovering his boat drifting near the riverbank at 4.30 pm yesterday.
He said that after the department was informed of his disappearance at 12.10 am today, it conducted an assessment and instructed the setup of a control centre at the nearest jetty.
“His friends searched for him until yesterday evening but failed. They then lodged a police report,” he added.
According to Sabarozi, Aziz's family told authorities that he had low blood pressure and often experienced fainting spells.
