PUTRAJAYA, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- A two-day retreat involving the top management of the Higher Education Ministry (KPT), vice-chancellors, university rectors and polytechnic directors served as a platform to strengthen relationships and enhance collaboration between public universities and polytechnics nationwide.
In a statement today, KPT said the initiative, spearheaded by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, brought together 20 vice-chancellors and university rectors, along with 36 polytechnic directors.
“This programme is crucial as a direct channel for communicating KPT's messages and agenda to key university and polytechnic leadership for implementation at their respective institutions.
“The ‘Retreat Bersama Doc Zam,’ held in Lumut, Perak, concluded today with various activities, discussions and engagement sessions between KPT’s top management and leaders from public higher education institutions (IPTA) as well as the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK),” the statement read.
According to KPT, the retreat also reinforced cooperation among all IPTAs across the country while fostering teamwork to drive excellence and improve the quality of higher education.
KPT said the retreat provided a platform for IPTA leadership to engage in direct dialogue, raise concerns, share insights and propose improvements in various aspects of higher education.
In the same statement, Zambry expressed hope that all of KPT’s key priorities for the year could be successfully achieved, particularly in developing top national talent, facilitating knowledge transfer, enhancing university governance and improving campus infrastructure.
“The ministry remains committed to ensuring that all planned transformation agendas are implemented with the interests of all stakeholders in the higher education ecosystem in mind,” he said.
The programme was also attended by Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, KPT secretary-general Datuk Seri Ir Dr Zaini Ujang as well as senior ministry and department officials.
