PLKN 3.0: First Batch Meets Government’s Goals - Johari

21/02/2025 05:01 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- The first batch of trainees under the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 has demonstrated strong performance, aligning with the government's aspiration to nurture capable young leaders.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said the high level of self-confidence among the trainees is a strong indication that the programme is on the right track to achieving its objectives.

“This gives us confidence as we prepare for the second phase next year, with all camps ready to welcome trainees,” Johari told reporters after a dialogue session with trainees at the 515th Territorial Army Regiment Camp, here, today.

The session was also attended by the National Service Training Department (JLKN) director-general, Maj Gen Datuk Ya'cob Samiran.

Johari added that the programme will be closely monitored by the Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Security, and he voiced his full support for PLKN’s continued success.

Johari noted that the first batch of trainees, who completed their 45-day programme on Feb 25, will carry forward valuable lessons in self-confidence and military discipline.

“The key takeaway is learning to build confidence in life, with discipline and military knowledge serving as guiding principles,” he said.

Earlier, Johari delivered a special lecture to the trainees, stressing the importance of patriotism, youth involvement in nation-building, and leadership with integrity.

This lecture was part of the Malaysian Parliament’s efforts to engage young people, foster a generation literate in democracy, raise awareness about national development, and nurture future parliamentary leaders through initiatives like the Youth Parliament and Parliamentary schools.

PLKN 3.0, now in its latest iteration, has been revamped into a more holistic and transformative initiative, aimed at developing human capital.

The first batch of 116 trainees, including 73 males and 43 females, has been training at the 515th Territorial Army Regiment Camp from Jan 12 to Feb 25.

PLKN 3.0 Series 2/2025 will run from May 11 to June 24, while Series 3/2025 is scheduled for Sept 7 to Oct 21, taking place at both the 515th and the 505th Territorial Army Regiment Camps in Pekan, Pahang.
