LABUAN, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Megah Port Management Sdn Bhd (MPM) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with government agencies to ensure that port activities and cargo handling operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

Its managing director Datuk Seri Patrick Tiong said as Labuan’s leading port operator, the company actively collaborates with various authorities to uphold the highest standards in maritime operations, safety, and environmental sustainability.

Recognising the pivotal role of ports in regional economic growth, he said MPM remains dedicated to aligning its operations with national and international regulations. Our partnership with the government is fundamental to maintaining a well-regulated and efficient port system.

“We continuously engage with relevant authorities to enhance logistics efficiency, security, and compliance.

“At Megah Port Management, we deeply value the support and guidance from our government partners. We acknowledge that their role is instrumental in helping us navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the maritime industry, ” he said at the MPM’s annual high tea with government heads at Dorsett Grand Labuan here today.

Tiong said that in line with its commitment, MPM proactively implements policies aligned with regulatory frameworks set by the Ministry of Transport, the Marine Department of Malaysia, and other key agencies.

“This includes strict compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and operational best practices to ensure sustainable and responsible port management.

To further enhance efficiency, he said MPM continues to invest in state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology, optimising cargo handling processes and minimising vessel turnaround times.

He noted that these initiatives align with Malaysia’s broader economic and trade ambitions, reinforcing Labuan’s competitiveness as a key maritime and logistics hub.

“MPM also remains committed to fostering stronger collaboration with industry stakeholders to address emerging challenges in the maritime and logistics sector.

“Our goal is not only to meet but exceed regulatory expectations while ensuring that our port remains a catalyst for economic growth in the region,” he added.
