KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The immersive art museum, teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM.com (teamLab Planets) has recorded a remarkable 130 per cent increase in ticket sales year-on-year following its major expansion in January.

The museum has also seen a notable rise in visitor stay time, with a recent survey revealing that the proportion of visitors who stayed for "two hours or more" grew by approximately 48 per cent, while those who "stayed for three hours or more" increased by about 20 per cent.

This spring, two massive artwork spaces will be transformed by cherry blossoms, adding to the museum’s seasonal charm, according to a statement.

From March 1 to April 30, the artwork Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers will feature cherry blossoms as part of a dynamic display, while Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and People - Infinity will allow visitors to interact with the artwork by walking barefoot in water, turning koi into cherry blossoms when they come in contact with visitors.

The major expansion in January saw the museum increase its space by approximately 1.5 times and unveil over 20 new artworks. These include educational exhibits such as Athletics Forest, Catching and Collecting Forest, and Future Park, along with the new Sketch Factory that lets visitors create personalised, tangible artwork to take home.

The survey conducted at the museum from January to February, with 2,525 valid responses, also highlighted a sharp increase in visitors' engagement with the art, with stay times extending significantly post-expansion.

The artworks at teamLab Planets are uniquely interactive and continuously change in real time, offering an immersive experience where visitors physically engage with the art.
