Zakat Fitrah In Perlis Set At RM9 Per Person

KANGAR, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The Zakat Fitrah (personal tithe) rate in Perlis for 1446H/2025M has been set at RM9, with the consent of Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail.

The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), in a statement today, said the rate was determined based on the price of Ghalib Qut al-Balad rice as the calculation basis.

For Muslims opting to pay zakat in rice, the rate is set at ‘One Gantang Nabawi’ per person, equivalent to 2.6 kilogrammes.

“Payments can be made through amils (zakat collectors) officially appointed by MAIPs or via the designated online platform for public convenience.

“Failure to pay Zakat Fitrah, whether deliberately or through illegal means, may result in action under existing regulations,” the statement read.
