IPOH, March 3 (Bernama) -- Green Excel Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (GEM) launched its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Taiping on March 1, reaffirming its commitment to innovation, quality, and the growth of its global and local operations.

In a statement today, director Yip Pek San said the new facility in Taiping reflects the company's dedication to meeting the evolving needs of the industries it serves.

“We specialise in the production of cleanroom architectural products, focusing on wall panels, ceiling systems, doors, and window systems that are essential to critical industries.

"Our Taiping facility is fully equipped with advanced automation machinery, enhancing safety, boosting production efficiency, and ensuring compliance with international quality standards,” she said.

Yip noted that Green Excel Engineering and Consultancy was established in 2016 to trade semiconductor-related products in Europe, marking the company's inception. Since then, GEM has expanded its capabilities and reach, opening its first manufacturing facility in Poland in 2022.

Present at the event were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, and Perak Investment Management Centre (InvestPerak) chief executive officer Mohamad Hashim Abdul Ghani.

Meanwhile, Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim said GEM’s investment in Taiping is a strong testament to Malaysia’s emergence as a hub for high-value, technology-driven manufacturing.

“By integrating advanced automation and precision engineering, GEM strengthens our machinery and equipment (M&E) industry while creating high-value jobs for our rakyat.

"This aligns perfectly with our New Industrial Master Plan 2030 vision, where Malaysian talent drives innovation and automation across our industrial landscape,” he said.

He added that the investment would create a positive ripple effect across communities, including upskilling the local workforce, strengthening Malaysian supply chains, and opening new opportunities for young talents to excel in advanced manufacturing.

The statement also highlighted GEM's RM95 million investment, which covers comprehensive development plans, advanced machinery acquisition and working capital needs.

Additionally, key investment components include land development, pre-operational expenses, and infrastructure improvements, strategically allocated to ensure sustainable long-term growth.

It added that GEM's partnership with the Advanced Technology Training Centre underscores its commitment to workforce development, ensuring continuous skill enhancement for local talent in Perak and career advancement opportunities in advanced manufacturing.

“In 2024, Malaysia’s manufacturing sector continued to demonstrate its strength and resilience, securing RM120.5 billion in investments, 31.8 per cent of the total approved investments of RM378.5 billion.

“Notably, the M&E industry emerged as the third largest subsector, attracting RM10.6 billion in approved investments," the statement read.
