Tunku Azizah's Bubur Lambuk Most Anticipated Ramadan Gift Among Inmates

KUANTAN, March 9 (Bernama) -- Menjelang Ramadan, ‘air tangan’ Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah’s bubur lambuk, prepared according to the special recipe of Istana Pahang, always takes centrestage every Ramadan and is highly anticipated not only by the people in the state but also inmates.

In keeping with her traditions this year, Her Royal Highness graced Penor Prison here this morning to whip up a batch of the prized dish at the grounds of the Tenun Diraja Pahang workshop, assisted by about 50 inmates who began cooking as early as 7.30 am to prepare about 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk to be distributed for breaking fast.

“After finishing cooking at 1 pm, Her Royal Highness distributed some packs herself to inmates, with the help of Tengku Puteri Raja Puteri Ilisha Ameera Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah,” a post on the Pahang Royal Household’s Facebook page read.

The bubur lambuk programme for inmates began in 2023 involving two prisons in Pahang, Penor and Bentong prisons, as well as Marang prison in Terengganu.

Tunku Azizah’s bubur lambuk is reputed to be exceptional as it incorporates various fresh ingredients and has a high protein content.

Its uniqueness lies in the use of various vegetables such as pucuk paku merah, and ingredients such as mackerel, prawns, squid and chicken, combined with Tunku Azizah’s personal touch and Istana Pahang’s special recipe.

It is no wonder that the dish has gained such a great reputation and occupies a special place among those lucky enough to have tasted it.
