JITRA, March 10 (Bernama) -- The Kedah Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is offering 36,000 e-wallet incentives for visitors at six Ramadan Rahmah bazaars in Kedah.
The ministry’s Kedah enforcement director, Muhammad Nizam Jamaludin said the bazaars are at Taman Mahsuri, Jitra; Wisma Ria, Sungai Petani; Klang Lama, Kulim; Pekan Baling; Kuah, Langkawi and Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
He said selected visitors will receive RM20 each, while traders who offer the RAHMAH Menu will receive RM100 as an incentive to provide more RM5 menus to help the people save on their spending.
“Last year, it was carried at four locations and this year we are expanding it to six locations, with each location allocated 6,000 e-wallets to be redeemed to encourage digital transactions between traders and consumers, as well as educating the community towards a cashless economy.
"Pen Petroleum Sdn Bhd as a strategic partner of the ministry also contributed 20 petrol cards worth RM50 each to selected Menu RAHMAH traders," he said after opening the state-level Ramadan Rahmah Bazaar at Taman Mahsuri here, last night.
Muhammad Nizam said the Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar is a government initiative to reduce the cost of living of the people by providing various dishes for the breaking of fast at low and affordable prices.
"Traders provide RAHMAH Menu such as rice with side dishes, chicken rice, nasi kandar, roti john, vermicelli soup, satay, curry noodles, nasi lemak and murtabak," he said.
Meanwhile, he said, in operations conducted at Ramadan bazaars and business premises in the state as of March 8, no unreasonable price increase by traders was detected.
