Singer Ara Johari To Surprise Fans With Raya Song

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- Singer Ara Johari, known for her rock songs, is set to surprise fans with something different – she is releasing a new song, ‘Zapin Malam Raya’, to liven up the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

Ara, whose real name is Nurfarrah Izzatie Johari, said the song, scheduled for release on March 19, is special because it showcases a different side of her as she has never performed any song in the ‘Irama Malaysia’ music genre. 

"This is my first time singing in the ‘Irama Malaysia’ genre. It might sound a little different since my voice is usually associated with rock songs.

"I'm also excited because the (new) song incorporates dialects from Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan, with lyrics that tell the story of a husband thrilled to return to his hometown for Raya," she said in a statement issued by Universal Music Malaysia today.

Composed by Affan Mazlan and Syafiq Al Gambus, ‘Zapin Malam Raya’ also features the comedy group Trio Latah as guest singers.

The song’s music video is currently being filmed and is expected to be released next week.
