KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- Active companies owned by agencies under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) recorded a pre-tax profit of RM259.97 million in 2024, Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang said.
She said companies under KKDW, including MARA, FELCRA Bhd, RISDA and regional development authorities, demonstrated strong financial performance, although some recorded losses totalling RM47.81 million.
"To ensure agency-owned companies under KKDW maintain financial and operational growth, the ministry is committed to strengthening corporate governance and sustainability through proactive measures, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuous monitoring," she said during a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Negara.
She was responding to Senator Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who asked about the profit and loss performance of companies owned by KKDW agencies in 2024.
Rubiah said all KKDW agency-owned companies are required to meet KPIs under the theme 'From Cost Centre to Profit Centre,' focusing on financial health, business sustainability and governance.
"KKDW oversees 122 subsidiaries and affiliates, of which 100 remain active," she added.
