KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- HERE Technologies, the location data and technology platform, has announced a strategic collaboration with firefly, the latest electric vehicle (EV) brand launched by Chinese EV maker NIO.
The partnership equips firefly with HERE’s advanced mapping and location services to enhance intelligent driving features and meet evolving regulatory standards in Europe.
HERE Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific, Deon Newman said as Chinese EV brands expand globally, the company is proud to provide the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mapping solutions that set the global benchmark for safety and performance.
“Our collaboration with NIO underscores our dedication to enabling Chinese automakers in their export ambitions while delivering world-class driving experiences,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, NIO Global Business Development Vice President, Chris Chen said: “To bring firefly to Europe, we needed a partner with deep expertise in global mobility.
“HERE provides the automotive-grade location intelligence necessary for a seamless and safe driving experience across borders.”
Designed for urban mobility and mass-market appeal, firefly will integrate HERE’s high-precision global maps, real-time traffic data, and speed limit intelligence to support advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) mandated across the European Union.
The integration also benefits from HERE’s collaboration with Telenav Inc, enabling firefly to deliver EV-optimised digital cockpit and navigation experiences tailored to regional driving conditions and energy efficiency.
With over 42,000 vehicles delivered globally in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 40.1 per cent year-on-year growth, NIO continues to scale its global footprint. The launch of firefly represents a key step in expanding its reach to new consumer segments in the smart EV market.
The collaboration reinforces HERE’s growing role in powering next-generation mobility solutions for global EV manufacturers, particularly as it deepens its presence in the Chinese automotive sector.
