PUTRAJAYA, July 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Switzerland continue to strengthen bilateral relations through discussions on potential areas of cooperation to reinforce their shared commitment to heritage-based development and community values.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the matter was discussed during a breakfast meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Malaysia, Chantal Moser, at the Swiss Embassy in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

“We also exchanged views on women’s empowerment and leadership, including areas that can be explored within a more progressive and inclusive social policy framework.

“I appreciate the willingness and openness of the Swiss Embassy to further strengthen our meaningful bilateral ties. Follow-up actions will be pursued together moving forward,” she said in a Facebook post.

According to Dr Zaliha, the meeting followed up on her bilateral session with the head of Switzerland’s Department of Home Affairs, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, during her working visit to Venice, Italy, in May in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Davos Baukultur Alliance.

She noted that during the annual meeting, Malaysia was recognised as the only non-European country to be a member of the international movement.
