SHAH ALAM, July 9 (Bernama) -- The debate on the Putra Heights gas explosion at the Selangor state assembly sitting reflects the state government’s openness and commitment to public safety, said Speaker Lau Weng San.
He said nine assemblymen from both sides took part in the discussion, showing a healthy democratic process and willingness to address public concerns.
“This assembly is transparent and broadcast live on social media daily,” he told reporters at the lobby of the Selangor State Assembly building today.
Lau said the quality of the debate was commendable, with active participation and constructive input from the elected representatives.
Yesterday, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari tabled a motion on the gas blast incident, which was debated by government and opposition assemblymen, including Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PN–Sijangkang) and Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri (PN–Paya Jaras).
The sitting resumes at 10am tomorrow.
